Surgery and transformation of Marilyn Monroe

Since the time the scalpel began to play a vital role in the Hollywood star system, having nose jobs became a way of life. Today plastic surgery is a common practice though when compared before and now its either that is was better done earlier or that today’s celebrities have no restrains. Marilyn's journey from Norma Jean to Marilyn Monroe is one of the most amazing and subtle transformations ever, and yes it was all done in the 1950's, just unbelievable! It has been discussed a lot how many and what plastic surgeries she had - were her breasts real, and her eyes that big...

Marilyn Monroe transformation

She was always pretty, but after the surgery she was absolutely stunning. Apparently a simple improvement such as rhinoplasty and a chin implant can go a long way, as shown in Marilyn's case, they transformed her from a beauty into a sexy starlet!

She had undergone plastic surgery in 1946, when she signed a contract with Twentieth Century-Fox Studios. Then in 1950, Johnny Hyde, a boyfriend at the time and a top Hollywood agent, arranged for her to have her chin and nose perfected. He suggested Norma should become Marilyn to boost her career. After that Norma Jean Baker changed her name, dyed her hair and underwent rhinoplasty to make her bulbous nose more feminine and delicate.

Gossipy plastic surgeon Dr. Norman Leaf tells about Marilyn Monroe’s nose job and chin implant in his new book. Though Monroe was never his patient, Leaf inherited her chart from his former partner, Michael Gurdin, a prominent plastic surgeon in Hollywood after World War II. The first entry in the chart is July 14, 1958. In handwritten notes, Gurdin details Monroe’s 1950 chin implant surgery. Eight years later, the collagen implant had absorbed and all that remained was a tiny scar under Monroe’s chin. There was no notation about the star’s earlier nose job, but Leaf writes, “Gurdin had told me several times that he and Pangman had also performed a tip rhinoplasty on her”—in other words, reshaping the soft cartilage.”

Marilyn Monroe surgery

She had her teeth worked on in 1948, they were straightened but that was not plastic surgery, since dental work isn't classified as plastic surgery. Her hairline was modified by plucking. The reason for her eyebrows looking different was because they were tinned out and penciled. In the mid 1940's she was told to smile differently because her top lip would raise above her teeth and gums so you could see them, which also changes someone's features noticeably.

All in all be it surgery, make up or change of manner of how a person smiles, it is noted that subtle and small changes can make a great impact in an over all presentation of a person. One thing is for sure today’s celebrities have a lot to learn for their predecessors.
